There is historical disagreement over changing Sikorsky's nationality from Russian to Ukrainian. Edit requests which may be controversial require consensus exist prior to implementation. Because of this, they are usually denied by editors.
please change russian-American to Ukrainian-American

please change russian-American to Ukrainian-American.
He himself wrote that he was ethnically Ukrainian, and already in the United States, after the Second World War, he considered himself that way. Although before that he admitted that the Ukrainians are part of Russia, because then they captured it.
The fact that Russia has always appropriated Ukrainian figures (Korolyov, Malevich) and the fact that today it continues to destroy the country gives every reason to give the appearance of Ukrainian origin of famous people. Валерия Гарвилюк (talk) 19:26, 10 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Cesare Urbino: The IP cited "the modern Russian-Ukrainian war" as a source. We don't need a policy to know that is not a source, much less not reliable! BilCat (talk) 03:29, 25 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Whats funny is stuff like this makes wikipedia unrelaible with bogus info. And refusual to change. Its legit obvious hes ukranian and russian is just wrong. 108.72.52.45 (talk) 11:52, 29 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]
isn't it stated in this same article that he's from Kyiv lol? he was literally Ukrainian, why would you appeal to Russian imperialism by defying it? 188.163.30.104 (talk) 22:07, 30 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Kiev, Russian empire, born to Russian-Belarusian parents, considered himself Russian. lets say Saint Petersburg breaks off of Russian for some reason, would every Russian that was born there long before this happened now be considered a Petersburgian? Vamlov (talk) 19:47, 1 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Actually Sikorsky is Ukrainian.
This is evidenced by Igor Sikorsky himself in a letter written in English to Vasyl Halych on August 30, 1933: "My family, which originally is from a village in the Kyiv region where my grandfather and great-grandfather were priests, is of purely Ukrainian origin…" This is probably the only known document signed by Igor Sikorsky, in which he speaks of his ethnicity. 178.133.64.170 (talk) 13:36, 2 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That is correct. He is Ukrainian-American not Russian,he attended Kyiv Polytechnic not Moscow so I am not sure why on earth would someone write it Russian unless whoever did it is Russian himself and they always highjack history of Ukraine to portray as theirs. There was an interview of two of his sons who clearly states that their father was Ukrainian and their mother way born in Poltava,Ukraine.
This is why Wolepedia is in trouble finasially because people caught up to their BS and any propaganda.
The fact that Ukraine was occupied doesn’t make someone Russian lol, same as former Soviet Union counties who were just under the Russian umbrella but with their own language, traditions are not Russians and it doesn’t say Russian in their passports.Who wrote this POS wiki page?
