Talk:Telephone area code
While the article is interesting, it is very US-centric. Most of the content (including the link I added...) actually belongs in North American Numbering Plan. -- Yaronf
Is it called "Area code" in other countries? -- Zoe
Good question; this USian doesn't know - Google research only finds "country codes," but I'm not sure that's the end of it. I have copied the relevant material to North American Numbering Plan but haven't taken it out of area code - as non-US material is found and added, perhaps it could be de-US-centic-ed -- David
I sort of de-US-centricized the article, I hope you like the result. BTW, it is called Vorwahl in Germany, which roughly translates to "pre-dial". Yaronf
Bravo! Very interesting stuff. -- David
Is there a reason Telephone area code also exists? -- Minesweeper 06:07 19 May 2003 (UTC)
It may predate "area code," which I created after finding it on the list of requested articles - I did not notice Telephone area code. The two have a lot of overlap, particularly when North American Numbering Plan is factored in. Some tough decisions will need to be made about this trio. - DavidWBrooks 12:37 19 May 2003 (UTC)
