Sacred Heart University (new article edit request)
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
Hello, we have a number of edits (like the size of Sacred Heart's endowment, sporting affiliations, number of buildings on campus, names of buildings and colleges, etc.) we are requesting and would like to ask the best way to achieve this. Should we request one or two edits at a time, or can we submit them in bulk? We've compiled our edits in this document--of course, we will follow proper procedure in actually submitting the requests, but wanted to provide our source material as a starting point: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1wHP7AShk2ksobVDaP8Dpf8UMCjm0DiBXI2aq9MT0UaI/edit?usp=sharing.
Additionally, we wish to disclose a conflict of interest in updating the Wikipedia page for Sacred Heart University, as we are employees of the institution. We've worked here for a number of years, and during this time, the university has transformed in many ways, and the page as it stands does not accurately represent the institution today. We have thoroughly vetted all edits that we propose to the page against the latest data we have as well as external articles that we were able to find. - Hi! It's best that you declare your COI clearly on your userpage, as you have. If you are being paid to edit on Wikipedia or are otherwise expecting compensation in relation to your editing here, you must also declare this separately and clearly (see WP:PAID).
- Using Google Docs is a bit cumbersome and discouraged. If you would like to share a draft you created here on Wikipedia, the best thing to do would be to write it in your sandbox (perhaps even a separate sandbox page) and then share a link to that. For more information about sandboxes, see H:SANDBOX.
- Lastly, remember that all information on Wikipedia needs to be verifiable per WP:V. If you have access to some kind of internal data or information that is not publicly available, you can't base your edits on that information. Unless information can be attributed to a reliable source that readers can access, or it is very plausible and obvious that a reader could easily verify information ("London is the capital of the UK" needs no inline citation), it should not be added to an article. Conflict of Interest edit request
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest was declined. |
- What I think should be changed (include citations):
Add Sporting affiliations NEWHA, MAAC, EIWA, ECAC, NEIFC
Update Undergraduates numbers (this includes full-time and part-time) to 6,782 and Postgraduates to 3,939
Update number of programs and students under first section to: Sacred Heart is the second-largest Catholic university in New England, behind Boston College, and offers nearly 90 degree programs to over 10,000 students at the bachelor's, master's and doctoral levels.
- Why it should be changed:
The page does not accurately represent Sacred Heart University today and has errors such as inaccurate building and program names, admissions numbers, sporting affiliations, endowment size and more. These edit requests have been thoroughly vetted against the latest data as well as external articles.

- Not done: please provide reliable sources that support the change you want to be made. That means sources for all claims, both to ensure verifiability and to justify inclusion in the article by demonstrating noteworthiness. Actualcpscm (talk) 11:54, 6 May 2023 (UTC)
Greek life lists
[edit]@Emilyjd8: lists of Greek institutions are better placed on list pages, since their content relevance for an encyclopedia is marginal. Also, there is not enough reliable documentation about them. Most Wikipedia editors agree that rote listings of Greek institutions are not helpful if there is no sourcing from outside the school's own homepage or the fraternity's own circle. If you can prove that one or more of the Greek houses is significant, then pls do so, but for the most part, individual houses fall under WP:UNDUE. That is, they are not significant enough for an encyclopdia. Here is an example of the lists, which are more appropriate. -- Melchior2006 (talk) 18:58, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
