Hello Jas2000!
If you want to test things, do it in the Wikipedia:Sandbox. Also take a look at the links maveric posted above. -- JNi
OK :) not on your page
Jas2000
Stop creating non-encyclopedic articles. If you want to practice markup, use Wikipedia:Sandbox. If you want to make a statement of some kind, do it in User:Jas2000. "Jas2000" is not a legitimate encyclopedia entry; stop trying to make such an article. -- Salsa Shark 10:13 Mar 25, 2003 (UTC)
- Now now, Salsa, have patience with our newcomer. ;-) Just a word of explanation, Jas. Wikipedia works on the concept of namespaces. For example, User:Jas2000 is in the User: namespace. This is where Wikipedians put their user pages. Wikipedia:Welcome newcomers (which is a page all newcomers should read) is in the Wikipedia: namespace, which is for pages about Wikipedia. The main namespace (or article namespace) is unlabeled. It's for the encyclopedia articles themselves, e.g. chess, mathematics, and Norway. Putting non-articles in the main namespace is bad form; they will be moved or deleted. -- Stephen Gilbert
ok, read that, just thought, if anyone did a search on my ID, it would be nice if they could actually find some more info. As an example; how about "Jas2000 beliefe system" ? Basically a brand new religion which I might invent... Does that get deleted too? Jas2000
- In short, yes... We are an encyclopedia, and so we have standards for inclusion. Perhaps the most important requirement is that the information be verifiable -- prove to me that you have founded a religion and that your religion has serious followers (or, I suppose, not-serious ones in certain contexts, see 'Church of the Sub-Genius) and I will support the existence of a NPOV article on the subject in Wikipedia. Articles on fringe subjects are fine, as long as they are NPOV, encyclopedic and factually verifiable. Tuf-Kat
