Activities
[edit]I have been an active member of my BSA Venture Crew 446. My crew has had yearly trips each summer for the past 6 years.
Shasta 2001 - We canoed Lake Shasta, California.
Blue Glacier 2002 - We hiked to Blue Glacier, Mnt. Olympus, Washington.
San Juans 2003 - We bicycled the San Juan Islands, Washington in 2003.
Canada 2004 - They rafted the Thompson and Frasier rivers in British Columbia, Canada. I was not with my crew on this trip, but instead attended Especially for Youth in Provo, UT.
Adams 2005 - We climbed Mnt. Adams, Washington. Only a quarter of our crew made it to the summit. I had to stop at Piker's Peak, a false summit, about 800 vertical feet below the true summit. However, I went back the following year with my dad and a cousin, and summitted in July of 2006.
Idaho 2006 - We floated down and fly-fished the Henry's Fork of the Snake River, Idaho, hiked the Hanging Valley in Teton National Park, visited Yellowstone, and then spent three days rock climbing, rafting, and river kayaking in the BSA High Adventure camp on the Salmon River, Idaho, 2006. Highlight of this trip: Out of the 10 young men in my crew, only me and a buddy decided to hit the biggest rapids in kayaks, downstream from camp. I learned the Eskimo roll the night before, and managed to right myself after Facebreaker rapid tipped my kayak the last day of the trip. Hooah!
I worked as a lifeguard for the Samena Club from September, 2005 to the end of July, 2006.
