A note
[edit]Dropped this short synopsis as the article now consists of a very long synopsis.
- In the film, Julian Marty, a bar owner played by Dan Hedaya, hires a private detective, played by M. Emmett Walsh, to spy on his wife (played by Frances McDormand) to find out whom she is cheating on her husband with. The detective returns with photos showing that Abby is cheating on her husband with Ray (played by John Getz), an employee at the bar that Marty owns. Ray expects to have been fired, and when Marty doesn't fire him, he quits. Marty still owes a few weeks' wages, but threatens to shoot Ray if he comes back to the bar.
OK, I am going to move some of this to the main article, under the spoiler warning.
Does anyone else think that the faux commentary (on the R1 DVD, anyway) is a spoof on Peter Cowie's commentaries for the Criterion Collection?

WikiProject class rating
[edit]This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 01:28, 9 November 2007 (UTC) ==Plot summary==http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Blood_Simple&action=submit I've removed the very long plot summary, which had been tagged since last July. The article has had a very long blow-by-blow plot section from the early days, and in my opinion this has hampered the formation of a proper, brief summary of the plot. This is why I think it needed to be removed. --Tony 00:39, 18 February 2008 (UTC)
The page as it stands now has no plot summary. This is a problem. You Know, many other film articles have long, detailed plot summaries that, for people like me, are very helpful and often times exactly what we're looking for. -- RingKichard 01:29, 1 March 2008 (PST)
Well, it has a plot summary now. Unfortunately, it needs to be rewritten entirely. Wiki users need to learn that the word "plot" means "storyline." It represents the basic outline and events of a film and its characters. It does NOT represent every single notable event and plot twist within a movie; writing in such a way SPOILS the film for people who haven't watched it yet.
