Reminiscences section
[edit]The Reminsicences section is fascinating stuff, but does it really belong in Wikipedia? Grutness 06:58, 11 Nov 2004 (UTC)
- This has to be a debatable matter as to whether it should be included or not. What has been described is part of the history of the place. For instance, the wharf is now dismantled and yet it was an important part of the town for many years. History of a town is surely something of relevance to Wiki?
- Perhaps you object to the presentation since it reflects personal experiences but what is wrong with that? Caesar wrote his journals which are very much based on personal experiences and they are now highly regarded historical accounts without which we would be much poorer in understanding the era.
- What is wrong with history seen through the eyes of a participant. It can actually give life to a set of dry statistics. The bare facts can still be validated by others and become a true historical account. Does the title "Reminiscences" offend? Then a change to the title can be made.
- Why not leave the topic and let others with knowledge contribute to it? It could lose focus and become too personal but such additions can be edited to retain the bits that contribute to an understanding of the town (some of my comments are probably of that nature and so could be cleaned up without removing the whole contribution). --Zanuga 13:02, 17 Nov 2004 (UTC)
