Rewrite
[edit]I did a massive rewrite of the most recent submission by 69.8.247.233. A summary follows:
- Pulled the listing of fields Segel has explored.
- Removed hagiography and irrelevant details. F'rex, Googling "quintessential entrepreneur" doesn't show him on the first ten pages, and the "Philadelphia Presidents Organization" seems to exist mostly so people can brag about chairing it (three pages of Google links, and not one page indicating anything they actually do). His various Hall of Fames seem to be semicredible organizations, though anyone with any expertise . I don't think anyone cares about his wine collection. The list goes on; see the diff for specifics.
- Pulled links that didn't go anywhere relevant.
- I think the Franklin Mint is not the "only private mint commissioned by foreign countries to produce coin of the realm." The National Collector's Mint claims this as well. In any case, I think that is a topic better served over at the actual Franklin Mint article. Removed some of the QVC material; it should go over to that article if it's really important.
- I don't find very much information about Segel's service in the UN. His defense of Kurt Waldheim is the #1 Google hit for "United Nations" and "Joseph Segel", so in it goes until someone finds something better.
I don't think Joseph Segel's self-compiled biography was a good template for this article. Mockingbus 20:13, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Unsourced Material
[edit]A lot of the content of this biographical article, e.g. the list of companies that he founded, seems based on the personal website https://www.josephsegel.info/, which looks to be maintained by a family member of the subject and is therefore not a neutral source. Even if the material is true, I think the article needs substantially more sourcing. - Indefensible (talk) 05:43, 23 December 2019 (UTC)
